TSA Rogaine Rules

The Transportation Security Administration worry about passengers bringing liquids on to planes because they might be flammable.

Minoxidil is sold under different brands like Rogaine, Regaine, Foligain, or Kirkland. It comes in either liquid form or as a foam.

It’s not always obvious with foam products whether they are considered to be liquids under the TSA 3-1-1 rule.

I checked with the TSA on Twitter about flying with Rogaine:

You can pack hair growth products like Rogaine in containers that are 3.4 ounces or less in carry-on bags.

You can take as many bottles of Rogaine as you can fit into your one quart-size zip-top bag.

Rogaine does not qualify as a ”medically necessary liquid“ meaning that any larger containers would need to be packed in checked luggage.

However the standard size bottle of Rogaine is 60 ml or 2 FL OZ meaning that is travel-sized. You just need to pack it in your quart-size bag along with your other liquid toiletries.

There is no issue with flying with aerosol Rogaine in either carry-on luggage or checked luggage.

Don’t worry, it won’t explode!
